Sibirtelecom OJSC - operator of telecommunication services in Siberian Federal District presents results of its activity for the 1st half of 2009 in accordance with Russian Accounting Standards.

In 2009 Sibirtelecom OJSC has invested about 11.4 mln rubles to installation of telephones in new buildings in the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

On July 26, Srostki settlement of the Altai Krai, the homeland of Vasiliy Shukshin, the famous writer, actor, and film director hold the final events of the All-Russian festival “Shukshin days in Altai”. The key event of the festival was artistic-publicistic program “To burst way to the future Russia”. Traditionally this event takes place on the Picket mountain with the participation of Russian cultural figures separate from contemporary means of communication, that is why Sibirtelecom company organized a mobile communication point on the Picket mountain.

On July 23, 2009 the Board of Directors of Sibirtelecom OJSC made a decision concerning the question “Determination of the Term of Powers and the Total Number of Members of the Management Board, Appointment of Its Members.

On July 23, 2009 Sibirtelecom OJSC and Nvision Group declared about the termination of a common project on the upgrade of a single corporate network of data transmission of Sibirtelecom OJSC and the successful completion of testing.

Final key appointments of top managers in Sibirtelecom have been made. On July 20 Yevgeny Shalnev who had had the position of deputy director of information technology department was appointed director of information technologies.

Since August 1, 2009 Internet-users of Sibirtelecom OJSC in Krasnoyarsk Krai have been provided access to the services of “Unlimited City Zone” of Krasnoyarsk.

On July 19, 2009 the 8th meeting of Russian-Chinese Sub-commission for Communication and IT within the Commission for the organization of meetings of the heads of Russian and Chinese governments was opened in Irkutsk as well as a Russian-Chinese seminar on telecommunication questions.

On July 27 2009 Sibirtelecom OJSC will increase the speed of Internet traffic for schools in Krasnoyarsk Krai two times. It will be done in 111 village schools, mainly in Pirovky, Tyukhtetsky, Bogotolsky, Bolshemurtinsky regions, where the data transmission speed in Internet will be increased from 128 Kbyte/s to 256 Kbyte/s.

In July Sibirtelecom OJSC finished construction of a fiber-optic link in the Novosibirsk Region that connected region centres such as Vengerovo, Severnoye and Kyshtovka. The total length of the new optic communication line is 345 km.

There were some changes in the top management of Sibirtelecom. On July 13 Valery Belenky that had been commercial director of Kemerovo Branch of Sibirtelecom OJSC was appointed commercial director of Sibirtelecom.

Sibirtelecom completed construction and got permission for the operation of a digital radio relay line in the Omsk Region that connects the Tevriz, Ust-Ishim and Bolshie Uki. The total length of the new communication line is 234 km.

On July 8 the International Economic Conference “The Role of Siberia and Far East in Global Development” was opened in Ulan-Ude. The conference is held within the 6th Baikal economic forum. Top managers of Sibirtelecom OJSC took part in the work of the conference.

Sibirtelecom OJSC provided a Federal cardiologic centre in Krasnoyarks with modern telecommunication facilities and Internet access.

In the beginning of 2009 Sibirtelecom completed construction of an intelligent communication network. Near-term prospects include offering some new services to its subscribers and business-partners: “Universal Access Number” and “Premium Rate Call”.

In the report issued by AC&M Consulting, Sibirtelecom is listed among the top ten Russian Internet providers by the number of broadband access subscribers.

The new Sibirtelecom Board of Directors elected in June 2009 adopted a resolution regarding replacements in the top management of the company's branch offices.

Baikalwestcom CJSC, a subsidiary mobile operator 100%-held by Sibirtelecom, is putting into operation mobile base stations (MBS) - new equipment that makes it possible to provide stable coverage on territories with weak or absent signal and in places with some concourse.

Baikalwestcom, a mobile operator 100%-held by Sibirtelecom OJSC, exceeded the level of 50 thousand users of the IMT-MC-450 standard (WELLCOM trademark).

On June 26, 2009 Sibirtelecom OJSC discharged its obligation under syndicated credit in the amount of 16.67 mln. euros before the appointed time.
